I specialize in mindfulness, love, sex & intimacy, living with illness, and navigating end-of-life. Because we are whole beings, I include consideration for all four aspects of human experience in my work, including body, mind, emotions, and spirit.
Mindfulness
Clinical applications of mindfulness include mindfulness-based cognitive therapy which is an excellent treatment for both depression and anxiety. Mindfulness is also effective at reducing disturbing emotions and intrusive thoughts, helping with issues of self esteem, transforming anger and negative internal dialog, grief work, and help with transitions, trauma and loss.
“The mind is its own place. It can make a heaven of hell or a hell of heaven.” Milton, Paradise Lost
Love, Sex and Intimacy
This includes relationship work for both individuals and couples as our most enduring relationship is the one we have with ourselves. I also help with issues of aging, body image, sexual functioning, and sexual pleasure and health.
“After all these years, the sun never once told the moon, ‘you owe me.’ Imagine a love like that. It can light up the whole sky.” Hafiz, 14th Century
Living with Illness
This includes addressing the challenges of maintaining quality of life and self agency while living with chronic or life limiting illness, changes to health.
“Breathing in I calm body and mind.
Breathing out I smile.
Dwelling in the present moment I know this is the only moment.” Thich Nhat Hahn
Navigating End-of-Life
This is an important time for soul work, such as issues of meaning, forgiveness, hope, and purpose. My soul work is based on the Celtic Anamcara tradition, which is a term that means “soul friend,” as well as my years spent serving cancer patients with terminal illness as an oncology social worker. Soul concerns can be addressed at any point throughout the lifespan, though most often we do this work at End-of-Life. I am also skilled at helping one to practically prepare for death, including considering what your loved ones need to know, how your wishes can be supported until the very end, and even what type of service or celebration of life you may desire. I believe we can experience autonomy and self agency throughout the lifespan and I’m skilled at helping you navigate this sacred time of life so you can focus on your wellbeing and your loved ones.
“We are spiritual beings experiencing a human life.”
“Our ultimate goal is not a good death but a good life to the very end.” Atul Gawande
